Jon R. Levinson possesses diversified business experience with strong technical and administrative skills in operations, financial management, and marketing.
Jon’s professional experience includes his current role as President of REL Enterprises, Inc., a marketing and business development consulting firm, as a Vice President of a Fortune 500 company, and as President of REL Hotels, owner and operator of two Holiday Inn Hotels in Broward County Florida and the Sheraton of Boca Raton Florida. He also owned and operated Engineered Air an air-conditioning contracting company servicing southeast Florida. Jon’s first position out of college was as an accountant for a regional CPA firm in South Florida.
Jon earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, Florida in 1971. He holds both a Florida Real Estate Broker License and a Florida Class “A” Air Conditioning License.
Jon’s recent civic involvement includes serving as Chairman of Leadership Florida a statewide community of leaders actively engaged in understanding and serving Florida, a 6 year elected City Commissioner for the City of Delray Beach, Chairman of the Delray Beach Community Land Trust, Chairman of the South Central Regional Wastewater Treatment Board, member of the Delray Beach Visions 2010 Steering Committee, Delray’s Downtown Business Area Plan Steering and Implementation Committees, with the Pineapple Grove Main Street Board and member of the Delray Beach Volunteer Marine Patrol. He represented the City at the Palm Beach County League of Cities, on the Palm Beach County Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council, the Palm Beach County Intergovernmental Issues Forum, and the Atlantic High School, School Advisory Council. Jon served on the Delray Beach Board of Adjustment, the Downtown Development Authority, and the 1991 Charter Review Committee and several other groups prior to his election to the City Commission in March 2001.
Jon has served in various other community capacities including as a member of the Florida Atlantic University College of Education Advisory Council, and as an active member of the Board and Executive Committee of the United Way of Palm Beach County and on the Board of Florida House, Florida’s Embassy in Washington DC. He also is a member of the Board of the Mae Volen Center.
Some of his past civic involvement includes being a recent member of the Board of Volunteer Florida the Governors Commission on Volunteerism, Past Chairman of the Board of the Museum of Discovery and Science, the Board of Governors of the Delray Medical Center, a member of the Governor’s Select Committee Workforce 2000 and its Education Sub-Committee Chair, on the Florida Council for Education and Employment of Women and Girls, a member of both the Palm Beach County and Broward County School Board’s Strategic Planning Committees, Chairman of Leadership Broward IV, a Community Advisory Council Member for the Junior League of Ft. Lauderdale, and a Board Member of Junior Achievement. Jon is a frequent speaker on business and education issues and has made presentations to the Florida Literacy Conference, Florida Board of Community Colleges, various Florida Educators conferences, and the Florida Small Business Development Center.
Jon and his wife Lori have three grown daughters, 7 grandkids, and live in Delray Beach, Florida.
