About The Author: (1925-2022)

Robert E. Levinson’s crusade against “retirement” in the conventional sense stems from years of experience and personal observation as businessman, educator, author, consultant, and lecturer.

His business career includes a long tenure as President and CEO of Steelcraft Manufacturing Co., the nation’s largest producer of metal doors. He also served as Group Vice President of American Standard Inc.,  as owner-operator of two Holiday Inns and a Sheraton Hotel. At 90 years old he retired as Vice President for Corporate Development at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida.

Bob Levinson is a management and marketing specialist. But more than that, he is a REFIREMENT specialist. “When you get the urge” he believes, “follow it.” This explains why he has many careers.

Bob has authored The Knack of Developing and Using Management Savvy (Parker Publishing 1967), The Decentralized Company (Amacom 1983) and Super Savvy (The Knack updated) as well as numerous magazine and newspaper articles. He has always been very active in nonprofit service organizations, civic and educational enterprises. He is the recipient of many awards for his endeavors. He believes that everyone should pay CIVIC RENT.

He served three years in the U.S. Navy and received his BS in Business and LL.D from Ohio’s Miami University.

In writing the retirement book, Bob approaches the project with missionary zeal. “It has long depressed me” he says, “to see so many fine people who could be happily and productively employed wasting what could be the best years of their lives.” This in a nutshell is the basic theme of the book. Bob’s vast experience qualifies him to review, assess and help readers tailor to their personal needs and desires… the wealth of fruitful options accessible.
